"August Evenings bring solemn warnings,
to remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
so laugh, love, live free and sing"
-Anberlin, Peperthin Hymn

Time's up

There's an old man
who's lost his life
there's a young man
mourning tonight

And amongst the pain
comes the reminder
That you never know
When it's time to go

No one can guess
The time or the day
time waits for no one
to exit the fray

So live your life
with all the love you can
so when your time is up
You'll die a happy man

This is one I wrote this week. It's about my church:

Chiefs

Sick of their faults
full of my own
when it comes to a halt
where do I go?

So much love to give
so much love to bring
it's all being misplaced
cos we wanna be kings

I'm sick of it all
I hate it so much
clouding all judgement
it's running amuk

When it's all over
What will we say?
when all's said and done
will we obey?

We all think we know
the best way to go
the best path to travel
the best road to walk

but no one will grow
there'll be many a frown
they'll all end up bitter
in old Essendon town

Yes that's what happens
where there's too many chiefs
and thats what happens
when there's not enough Indians
Here's a poem I wrote to a girl called Shelly last year. I wrote it at 3:15 am one night while I was up doing an assignment. I read it again later on and thought it was cute:

I am sitting here,
In a quite room,
dreaming of beer,
And fun times too

I like to have fun with friends,
I like to spend time with you,
I live for moments like the ones,
I’ve had with just me and you

I think about you lots,
About all the things you do,
And admire your achievements,
Always achieving something new

And as I sit here,
With all these things to do,
I have lots of fears,
But I’ll manage to get through

It’s people like you
Who give me inspiration,
It’s people like you
Who never lack motivation

SO what does this mean
Well it means that I should
Really be doing uni work
Instead of writing to you

And next time I see you,
I’ll be through this tough week,
And I can’t wait for that day,
When I see you again
Welcome to my new poetry blog. From time to time I write a little poem or three, so I decided to create a new blog to put them in instead of loading up my normal blog with poetry. My poetry is pretty personal, and often I'm talking to someone or about something. Often it makes no sense and its just me rambling. Sometimes, however, I like to believe that I come up with some cool, and actually pretty decent poetry. That might be mixed in with plenty of crap though. I'll let you decide

Here's something I'm doing right now:

Another Saturday
On the rise
Another monday
On the fall

Need to reconcile
Myself with myself
Where do I go?
Yourself with yourself?

So on it goes
Down to new lows
There will be
Men at blows

When the final day comes
When I fall into the mire
And off come the gloves
When I feign desire

Up and down
back and around
another pumping saturday
before the fall from grace
